What the code means

The package contains files the EBA doesn't expect. According to the EBA's overview, the CSV files in the package must have valid table names (EBA (opens in a new tab)). The message the AFM quotes is "Extra files found in the submission: […]", followed by the files the EBA doesn't recognise (AFM Q&A (opens in a new tab)).

Typical cause

  • Added files: the package holds something that doesn't belong, such as a note, a copy of a table or the Excel workbook itself.
  • Different names: a table file is named differently from the EBA's sample. The EBA then treats it as an extra file (AFM Q&A (opens in a new tab)). Uppercase table names such as B_01.01.csv were rejected in the EBA's testing; b_01.01.csv was accepted (EBA common issues (opens in a new tab)).
  • Hidden folders: some compression tools add extra, hidden folders. That also leads to rejection (AFM Q&A (opens in a new tab)).

How to fix it

There is nothing to fix in the Excel workbook: the error is in what the ZIP file contains. Read which files the message names, then build the package again with only the expected files.

  1. Compare the file names with the EBA's sample packages (opens in a new tab) or the layout in the AFM filing guide.
  2. Use the lowercase names for the tables, such as b_02.01.csv.
  3. Don't unzip the package to re-zip it by hand.

Does DORA Convert catch it before you file?

Yes, for packages DORA Convert builds. We write only the files the EBA expects, with the official lowercase table names. Before you can download, we check that the ZIP holds exactly one folder with the package name and that every CSV file has a valid DORA table name. If a check fails, we don't offer the package.

If you unzip and re-zip the package after download, code 720 can still occur.

  • 701: required files are missing, often from the same misspelling.
  • 103: the folder inside the ZIP has a different name from the ZIP file.
  • Codes 801 and 802 (column headers not in the taxonomy, or duplicated): package checks.
